Celtic youngster Johnny Kenny netted in Shamrock Rovers’ 2-1 win over TNS this evening in the UEFA Conference League. The Irish striker netted the equaliser as the LOI side went on to gain a vital three points.

With 23 minutes on the clock, Kenny benefitted from a neat flick on before powering into the box and smashing an effort into the net via the bar. The 21 year old showed great strength to fend off the defender before unleashing a fierce effort into the net.

The result puts the runners up of the League of Ireland into a favourable position to reach the playoffs in UEFA’s third competition.

Brendan will need to decide whether or not he extends Kenny’s loan or brings him back into the fold at Lennoxtown. The youngster’s loan deal at the Dublin club expires in December but he’ll likely be eager to continue through the winter for the Conference League games in January.

The Celtic manager has spoken about wanting two first pick strikers and a third young player to supplement them. Kyogo and Adam Idah are currently in the building at Celtic but that third youth player is yet to be put in place. Kenny could be getting primed for that position, especially with his deal ending midway through the Scottish season.
