The Scotland international defender was introduced as a second half substitute and was given a wonderful ovation by the Gunners support inside the Emirates as he entered the field for the last time in a red and white shirt, and received similar applause when he said his farewells at full time such is his popularity amongst the Arsenal supporters.
KT moved to North London in 2019 for a whopping £25 million and quickly became a favourite at the Emirates helping his side win the FA Cup before bizarrely falling out of favour with Mikel Arteta, becoming something of a squad player much to the dismay of the Arsenal support.
Arteta had this to say about Kieran Tierney via talkSPORT: “With Kieran, he had a very special circumstance the way he had to come back and settle in the team again after four months out, and he’s been really good with the group.

“He has contributed in every possible way to help us and I’m very grateful for that. We have a few in the dressing room that probably is going to be the last time they put on that shirt in the Emirates. I’ve been there and I make sure we are close to them and I am very grateful to them as well.”
The very fact that the Arsenal supporters are sad to see KT go proves what a coup we have landed in enticing him back to Glasgow Celtic.
He’s entering the peak of his career and he will be a more experienced and improved player since he last wore the Hoops. He’s also coming to Celtic as a free agent so there is no transfer fee involved. Kieran hopefully will now play the remaining years of his career at Celtic and when Callum McGregor decides to call it a day in a number of years from now then KT looks likely to be the next Celtic captain.
It bodes very well for next season.
