Scottish Premiership giants show improvement in Europe

Celtic and Rangers have often been mocked for their failure to make a significant impact in European competitions.

Rangers bucked the trend by reaching the final of the 2021/22 Europa League, but there have been plenty of disappointments for both clubs aside from that.

However, the Glasgow pair have upset the odds this season by progressing to the knockout stage in their respective competitions.

Celtic have reached the knockout phase of the Champions League for the first time since 2013, regardless of the outcome of their visit to Aston Villa tomorrow.

Rangers are also through to the next stage of the Europa League with a game to spare despite losing 2-1 at Manchester United last week.

Both clubs look set to face a knockout round play-off, and they will fancy their chances of securing a place in the last 16.

Celtic and Rangers can be pleased with their efforts up to this point. The challenge now will be to make a deeper run in their respective competitions.
