Ferran Torres took centre stage in Barcelona’s thrilling encounter against Borussia Dortmund.
The forward came on as a substitute for Robert Lewandowski when the scoreline was tied at 1-1 and delivered a remarkable performance by scoring two crucial goals.
After the match, Torres shared his thoughts on the team’s triumph and reflected on his approach during the game. He explained that his priority was to exploit Dortmund’s defensive gaps and create opportunities for the team.
His dynamic movement and ability to break through the opposition’s backline proved decisive in securing the win.
“I went out to help the team because they were pressing us. With all the great games I was playing, the team just had to run into space, that’s how the goals came,” he said.
“These are those games that make a group, that make a ‘unit’. We knew how to suffer, we didn’t fall apart after being tied twice and we took the game forward.”

The forward also addressed a contentious penalty involving Pau Cubarsi but refrained from offering a detailed opinion, noting he had not seen the incident clearly.
“I haven’t seen it. I know it was a dispute but I can’t tell you,” he said.
Instead, Torres focused on the positives, acknowledging the team’s need to work on defensive lapses but highlighting their potential for growth.
“There is always room for improvement, we are young and we have a lot of room for improvement,” he added.
Marc Casado was another standout performer in the match. The Barcelona academy graduate delivered an exceptional display, further solidifying his status as a vital player under Hansi Flick.
Speaking about the match, Casado acknowledged the challenges of playing on Dortmund’s home turf.
He praised the team’s ability to handle the pressure, adapt to the intensity of the game, and capitalise on counterattacking opportunities to claim a significant win.
“We knew that we were coming to a very difficult ground. With the draw, both they and the fans came up and it was very intense.
“We knew how to play what we wanted and we took advantage of the counterattacks to win the game,” he said.

Casado also discussed the contrast between Barcelona’s Champions League success and their recent inconsistent league performances.
He highlighted the importance of the three points in the group stage, which marked their fifth consecutive Champions League victory, and expressed optimism about building momentum for upcoming fixtures.
“These three points were very important for the classification. The last few games in the league haven’t gone the way we wanted, but in the Champions League we’re doing very well. We have five wins in a row.”
Additionally, Casado spoke about his midfield partnership with Pedri, describing it as a pleasure to play alongside such a world-class talent.
The duo’s chemistry in the double pivot has been instrumental in Barcelona’s recent successes, and Casado expressed his eagerness to continue contributing to the team’s achievements.
“Pedri is a world-class player and it is incredible to play alongside him. I’m very comfortable playing with him,” he noted.
With this victory, Barcelona not only secured an important result but also reaffirmed their collective strength and determination as they aim for greater success in the competition.
