Coventry City face Manchester United on Sunday in their second ever FA Cup semi-final.

The Sky Blues earned their place in the Wembley showcase with a dramatic 3-2 win over Wolves in the previous round.

Two late goals saw Mark Robins’ side overcome a 2-1 deficit to progress at the expense of Premier League opposition.

This will be the team’s second fixture at Wembley in the last 12 months, having reached the play-off final last year as well.

Victory over the Red Devils would earn the Championship club a place in May’s final, where they could face either Manchester City or Chelsea.

Carlton Palmer believes that Man United will simply have too much quality to suffer defeat to the Sky Blues this weekend.

He believes that the possibility of Erik ten Hag guiding the Premier League side to a cup final again will be too important for them to risk under-performing and losing.

Coventry City face Man United this weekend in the FA Cup semi final,” Palmer told FLW.

“Magnificent opportunity for Coventry, but of late they're not going into this game in great form.

“They've got three defeats in their last six games, which is not great form to go in against Man United.

“I know Man United they're not going great guns at the moment but there is a gulf between the Premier League and the Championship, we all know that.

“So even though Manchester United United are not going great guns at the moment they still sit in seventh place in the championship, a long way off a Champions League spot.

“But they've only one defeat in their last four games, three draws and one win.

“So, yes, it's an opportunity you can never say never in any football game.

“It's a great opportunity for Coventry City.

“I don't think they'll beat Manchester United.

“It's also a great opportunity for Ten Hag to get to a major cup final again, so I just can't see it happening, even if Coventry City play really really well.

“I still think Manchester United have too much for them.”

The two sides will meet for the first time since September 2007, when Coventry knocked the then Premier League champions out of the EFL Cup.

A brace from Michael Mifsud sealed a 2-0 win against a second-sting side at Old Trafford.

A similar result this weekend would be a huge result for the club, and put them into their second ever FA Cup final.

The game gets underway in London on Sunday at 3.30pm.

Coventry will get chances against United

While there is no denying the quality that Man United possess in their squad, Coventry should still back themselves to put up a good fight this weekend.

If they can play to their best, then they have every chance of earning a result, even if that means taking the game to extra time and penalties.

Robins’ side will get their chances, as United have been absolutely porous in defence this season, especially in the last couple of months.

But even if they do succumb to United’s quality, this has still been a spectacular run from the team and one that fans will remember fondly for quite some time.
