West Bromwich Albion manager Carlos Corberan has said that he and other key figures at the club will work from tomorrow to make their dreams come draw, making this vow on X.

This social media post has come following the Baggies' 3-1 defeat against Southampton last night - a loss that has knocked them out of the play-offs and ended any chances of them securing a Premier League return.

With the first leg ending 0-0, the Saints were the favourites coming into yesterday's tie, having picked up a draw at The Hawthorns.

And they made full use of this, with Will Smallbone's excellent strike just after half-time putting the south-coast side 1-0 up at St Mary's.

Adam Armstrong made it two, before grabbing his brace via a penalty.

That killed the game, with Cedric Kipre's consolation in the 97th minute failing to start a comeback for the Baggies, who had run out of time.

This defeat will come as a blow for Albion, who spent much of the campaign in the play-offs and did well to stay in the top six, after previous speculation about their ownership situation.

With new owner Shilen Patel now at the helm, it wouldn't have been a surprise if this boost had given West Brom the extra 10% needed to get to Wembley and win there.

But it will be the Saints taking on Leeds United in the English capital for a place in the Premier League.

Carlos Corberan's message to West Brom supporters after Southampton defeat

Having previously failed to win the play-offs with Huddersfield Town, Corberan would have been more desperate than anyone else to secure promotion.

However, he was unable to succeed in this quest and it wouldn't have been a surprise if he had taken his time before taking to social media again.

But he posted last night, writing on X: "Thanks to everyone who believed in us throughout the season. Thanks to everyone who has supported us during every game.

"Thanks to every player who has worn our shirt. Without you, it would have been impossible to dream.

"From tomorrow, we will work to make our dreams come true."

West Brom would do well to hold on to Carlos Corberan

Albion are a great club and with a new owner at the helm, they could now enjoy a brighter future.

Patel (pictured above) seems to be a much better custodian - and it wouldn't be a surprise to see the Baggies enjoy success under him.

Judging by some of their recent league finishes, they are a side that belongs at the top end of the Championship/bottom end of the Premier League.

That's where Corberan should probably be at the moment.

However, it wouldn't be a shock to see him poached by another club at some point, because he is a very talented coach.
