Carlo Ancelotti plans for Jude Bellingham return to deeper role next season | OneFootball

Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham may be their most prolific goalscorer in La Liga this season, but Carlo Ancelotti intends to move him further away from goal next season.

Ancelotti has used Bellingham in multiple roles this season, coming off the left side and playing in behind the forwards, but always with the freedom to move as he pleased in the final third. However with Kylian Mbappe arriving in the summer, Ancelotti is already making plans for next season, and Marca say his intention is to move Bellingham back into a more traditional central midfield role. The Italian sees him as perfectly capable of taking the extra defensive responsiblity on, and feels he can be a total footballer.

Few would doubt Bellingham’s ability to adapt to any role after this season. As happened with Fede Valverde this season though, it will likely be accompanied by a reduction in his impact in the final third. Generally Real Madrid operate with two midfielders behind the ball, and depending on how Ancelotti lines up, that may be him more often next season.
