Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti has on Saturday confirmed that the role played by a leading member of his midfield ranks will be altered, amid the absence of Kylian Mbappé.
Real, of course, are currently in the midst of final preparations for a return to action on Sunday night.
Amid ongoing efforts to keep pace with table-topping Barcelona, Los Blancos will make the short trip to the Wanda Metropolitano, for a La Liga showdown with city rivals Atlético Madrid.
The Spanish champions head into the matchup in the knowledge that their pursuit of three points will be hindered by the absence of a key performer, in Kylian Mbappé.
Frontman Mbappé was this week condemned to a spell on the sidelines, owing to a thigh injury suffered against Deportivo Alavés in midweek.
Speaking in his pre-Madrid Derby press conference this afternoon, the subject of making up for the Frenchman’s absence was in turn put to Carlo Ancelotti.
And, in his response, Real’s headmaster went on to reveal that Jude Bellingham is in line to take up a new, presumably more advanced role on Sunday night:
“We are going to wait and see how Bellingham plays. His position will be different because Mbappé won’t play.”
