Carlo Ancelotti confirms Real Madrid star made the call to sit out Deportiva Minera clash | OneFootball

Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti has revealed that defender Jesús Vallejo made the call not to make himself available for the club’s most recent outing.

Real Madrid of course marked their return to action last night, kicking the club’s Copa del Rey campaign into gear in a meeting with minnows Deportiva Minera.

Carlo Ancelotti made use of the clash to afford playing time to some of the club’s lesser-seen senior stars, as well as several up-and-coming academy talents.

In turn, it came as something of a surprise when the aforementioned Jesús Vallejo was left out of Los Blancos’ matchday squad entirely.

As alluded to above, though, an explanation for as much has since been provided.

Speaking to the media in the aftermath of his side’s 5-0 triumph, Carlo Ancelotti was drawn on Vallejo’s whereabouts.

And the Italian tactician went on to confirm:

“He had a small discomfort and it was better not to risk it. It was his decision.”
