Over the past few seasons, Bayern Munich have made it no secret that they plan on securing the services of Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Florian Wirtz in the near future.

Der Rekordmeister have always faced competition, most notably from Real Madrid, but have always remained confident in beating Los Blancos to his signing.

It has been reported that Bayern are looking to strike in the summer of 2025, when Wirtz will have two years remaining on his deal at the BayArena.

However, there are question marks surrounding whether Bayern can actually agree on a financial deal for the German international.

Can Bayern Munich afford Florian Wirtz?

One of the main reasons for luring Wirtz to Bavaria is to link the 21-year-old up with Jamal Musiala.

The pair share a great relationship off the pitch and have been a sensation for the German national team when on it, earning the nickname “Wusiala.”

Nevertheless, with Musiala’s contract set to expire in the summer of 2026, Bayern will have to financially reward the midfielder in order to ensure he signs a new deal with the club.

This is expected to see Musiala receive a new deal worth within the region of €15 million a year.

Then, by signing Wirtz from Leverkusen, Der Rekordmeister would likely have to outlay a further €130 million while also offering the 21-year-old a similar €15 million a year deal.

This would see the overall package for “Wusiala” come to a staggering €300 million, potentially highlighting why the record champions have been keen to offload talents such as Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui.

It is also expected that Bayern will relieve the salaries of players such as Leon Goretzka and Kingsley Coman as a means to ensure they can afford the German duo.

While they would also have to convince both Musiala and Wirtz of the project at Bayern, it appears that at least financially, Der Rekordmeister would be able to make a deal for Wirtz possible while also keeping Musiala at the Allianz Arena.
