There have been many sources of frustration this season for Manchester City. Pep Guardiola’s side has suffered from an injury crisis and a host of other factors that have made the 24/25 a frustrating affair. Another source of frustration has been the performances of Jack Grealish so far this season. You get the impression that it is now at a point where Grealish must make an impact during the second half of the season. He could potentially be playing for his City career in the coming months.
So far this season Jack Grealish has made 18 appearances in all competitions. He has yet to score a goal and has added two assists. Generally speaking, those statistics are poor. But the influence Grealish has on City’s play is such that statistics don’t tell the full story. He is a vital component to Pep Guardiola’s side’s possession game and this was seen in City’s treble success during the 22/23 season. But since then, his best hasn’t been sighted as regularly as he, nor Manchester City, would’ve liked. The challenge is there for Grealish to up his game during the second half of this season.
Jack Grealish still has a vital role to play for Manchester City this season. The challenge is for him to find his best form. He has suffered from injury and other issues this season. That has interrupted his 24/25 campaign. But at 29 years of age, Grealish simply must step up his game. His team needs him and he needs to do it for himself as well. With a rebuild coming to Manchester City’s squad Grealish has to step up to show that he will be a part of that. He showed during City’s 3-nil win over Nottingham Forest earlier this season that he can play in midfield if required. But it’s at a point now where Grealish must simply perform whether it’s in midfield or on a wing. It’s as simple as that for the second half of the season.
It’s now up to Jack Grealish to perform during the second half of the season. He has had a disappointing season so far as injuries have hit. But he simply must show that he belongs at Manchester City for the future. That’s the challenge ahead of him. Jack Gaughan has reported for the Daily Mail that Tottenham and Newcastle are monitoring the situation surrounding Grealish. If he performs for Manchester City in the second half of the season he will likely remain at the club for the future. If he doesn’t then his future could become a topic to watch for next summer.
