Cambuur’s Benjamin Pauwels is making the switch to former La Liga club Leganés. Insiders report that the Spanish side will pay €1.3 million. This is a record fee for the Leeuwarden side.
Leganés play in the Segunda Division following 2024-25’s relegation from La Liga and they come as the next step up for the Cambuur winger.
Pauwels transferred from Beerschot to Cambuur last season and immediately made a name for himself at the Kooi Stadium. In 35 matches in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie, the winger scored four goals and provided eight assists.
Leganés are paying over a million euros to sign Pauwels from Cambuur, who picked him up in Belgium last season for tens of thousands of euros. Earlier this transfer window, Dynamo Kyiv made a move, but a move to Ukraine was not a good fit for Pauwels. With the arrival of Oscar Sjöstrand, Cambuur already has a replacement in place.
Cambuur’s additional exits came with Tyrique Mercera (to FC Groningen) and Bryant Nieling (to Modena).
