Celtic and second-placed Aberdeen played out a riveting 2-2 draw today (Saturday) at Celtic Park, with both teams remaining joint on points whilst the Celts stay at the top of the table with a positive goal difference of 12.

Brendan Rodgers’ side looked like they were set for a routine victory as they led 2-0 at half time, but two goals in the first 15 minutes of the second half for the visitors levelled the game and made it a nervy affair for the last half an hour. The Celts had big chances to win the game near the end, and speaking to Celtic TV after the match, Celtic captain Callum McGregor said that he felt his side should have won the table-topping clash at Paradise.“I think we done enough to win the game,” he said. “Especially in the last 15 minutes.“We created enough big chances ourselves in terms of the spaces that we try and get in to.“The big thing for us is that the manner which we started the second half was slack and at that point, you’re in total control. We’re 2-0 up and have dominated the game.“But they came out and change it a little bit and get more of a threat at the top end of the pitch.“I thought there was enough in the first half and the last 20 minutes, in all probability, we should have won that game. “But we have to be disappointed with the outcome and the period of the game where we ultimately lost the lead.”

Next up for the Hoops is a trip to Italy to face Atalanta in the Champions League, a game which the Celts’ captain says will be the focus of his side as they recover from today’s 2-2 draw. He added: “We have to dust ourselves down and we have a big game during the week.“It’s disappointing in terms of not taking three points, but in the grand scheme of things, where we are is fine and we’ll get the points back.“Our focus now changes to Wednesday.”
