Bayer Leverkusen have become a side that isn't used to losing. Their 4-0 thrashing at Liverpool in the Champions League was only their second reverse of this season, and their third since the start of last season. For an hour they matched the Reds at Anfield, but then the Premier League leaders went up a gear or two and blew Xabi Alonso's team away on the Basque coach's return to his former club.

I don't expect the German champions to have the same level of difficulty this weekend at Bochum. The Ruhr club are rock bottom, and have turned to veteran coach Dieter Hecking in a bid to survive. Hecking deserves respect for a solid coaching career (he won the DFB Pokal in 2015 with Wolfsburg, ruining Jürgen Klopp's farewell as Borussia Dortmund boss), but he hasn't coached at this level since 2019.

Bochum started the season with former St Gallen boss Peter Zeidler, who proved to be a disaster, failing to win any of his league games in charge. VFL have lost their last two games 5-0 at home to Bayern and 7-2 at Eintracht Frankfurt, so even Pep Guardiola might struggle to organise them after just a few days at the helm.

Bayer have won 16 of their last 21 Bundesliga away games, and I think they'll be angry after what happened at Anfield. I'm happy to back Bayer -2.0 on the Asian Handicap at 2.12. If they win by two goals, our stake is returned, and we get an odds-against payout if they win by three goals or more.

Stuttgart too short for Eagles win

Stuttgart are finding that difficult second album can be a hard one to sell. Having stunned everyone by finishing as runners-up in the Bundesliga last term, VfB aren't quite finding the same level this time around. It didn't help that top scorer Serhou Guirassy and defensive chief Waldemar Anton both defected to Borussia Dortmund, while versatile Japanese defender Hiroki Ito moved to Bayern Munich.

Stuttgart were outplayed last weekend at the BayArena as they clung on for a goalless draw against Bayer Leverkusen, with keeper Alexander Nübel producing one of the best displays of his career. They weren't able to repeat that trick in midweek, as they lost 2-0 at home to Atalanta, a result that undid much of the good work they had done in winning in Turin against Juventus.

Most of the problems have been defensive. Stuttgart have managed just two clean sheets across the Bundesliga and the Champions League, and they have already leaked 16 goals in just nine matchdays.

Eintracht Frankfurt will arrive in Swabia having won three of their last four competitive games, including a 7-2 thrashing of Bochum last weekend. Egyptian sensation Omar Marmoush continues to thrive, and has scored 10 goals already in the Bundesliga. He has netted 13 goals in 15 competitive games, and has set up plenty of goals too.

The Eagles won at Stuttgart last season, and I think they hosts are way too short at , so I'll lay them.

I can't resist backing Marmoush to score against his old club at 9/5.

Over 2.5 Goals treble the way to go

We can use the Sportsbook's Bet Builder to combine Over 2.5 Goals bets from Werder Bremen v Holstein Kiel, St Pauli v Bayern Munich and Augsburg v Hoffenheim, and that gives us a combined price of 3.1.

Bayern have seen seven of their nine league games featured at least three goals, and in their five top-flight away games they have scored at least three goals every time.

Holstein Kiel have one of the worst defensive records in the division, while Werder have found their scoring touch at last, netting 11 goals across their last five Bundesliga matches.

Augsburg have seen all five of their home games in the division feature three goals or more, while nine of Hoffe's 15 competitive games have seen an Over 2.5 Goals bet land.
