Ange Postecoglou’s side raise spirits ahead of huge week
Tottenham Hotspur bounced back from a four-game losing streak in the Premier League with a 2-0 win at Brentford on Sunday thanks to Vitaly Janelt's own goal and Pape Sarr's late strike.
The first half was frantic at times but fairly low on quality, with the deadlock broken when Spurs captain Heung-min Son’s whipped corner bounced in off Janelt in the 29th minute.
The Bees began the second half rapidly and Yoane Wissa skimmed the bar from close range, but they never really threatened an equaliser before substitute Sarr secured Spurs' win, only their second in 12 league games.
Brentford, who fell to their fourth loss in their last five home league games at home, remained 11th with 31 points from 24 games. Spurs' victory moved them up to 14th with 27 points.
Spurs were again without a host of key first-team players, including star defender Micky van de Ven.

Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou admits his side are a “little bit thin” defensively despite the signing of Kevin Danso.
Spurs signed Danso on loan from Lens and the deal includes an obligation to buy the defender for around £21million at the end of the season.
Postecoglou was delighted with the signing of Danso but admits his squad are lacking defensive options. Micky van de Ven missed the win over Brentford as the club continue to manage his minutes, while the Spurs boss also provided a concerning update in regard to Radu Dragusin.

Tottenham earned a first victory in the Premier League since December 15, as Vitaly Janelt’s own goal and substitute Pape Matar Sarr’s late second earned them a scrappy 2-0 win over Brentford in west London.
Janelt turned Heung-min Son’s corner over his own line midway through a cagey first half in which the Bees had the better of the chances.
Spurs had to weather a storm for most of the second period but Sarr raced onto Son’s pass and poked between goalkeeper Hakon Valdimarsson’s legs to settle the game.
