Brentford backs FA’s Play Safe Campaign | OneFootball

The FA’s safeguarding campaign, Play Safe, will run across this weekend of fixtures.

Brentford has been invited to take part in the campaign during our Premier League fixture against West Ham United at Gtech Community Stadium.

Play Safe is an annual cross-football moment which aims to raise greater awareness of the English game’s ongoing safeguarding commitment to support children, young people and adults at risk within football and our communities.

Led by the FA, the campaign is endorsed by the NSPCC and will be supported this weekend across every level of English football in the men’s, women’s and grassroots games.

This year’s Play Safe campaign focuses on the safeguarding role that everyone can play – coaches, players, parents/carers, spectators or volunteers – to keep children and young people safe, no matter what the football setting.

On our matchday against West Ham United, our captain for the game will wear an official Play Safe campaign armband and our coaching staff have been invited to don Play Safe badges to show their support for the initiative.

Safeguarding at Brentford

At Brentford, we consider safeguarding to be everyone’s shared responsibility.

The club is committed to the safeguarding and welfare of all children, young people and adults at risk of harm.

Adam Brown, director of safeguarding, said: “Safeguarding remains a priority across the club, especially as more young people will soon develop their skills and passion for the game in our academy and in the programmes our Community Sports Trust run in the local area.

“This weekend, we’re united with our colleagues across football to promote safeguarding awareness. With so many people - players, coaches, parents, staff and supporters - contributing to Brentford’s success, it’s important that everyone is reminded of their roles and responsibilities in keeping young people and adults safe.”

Reporting a safeguarding concern on matchday

If you have a concern about the safety or welfare of a child or adult at risk during a matchday at Gtech Community Stadium, you should immediately inform a steward or Brentford staff member.

You can also text “BFC” followed by your message to 62277 and our operations team will be notified and respond. Alternatively, you can email report@brentfordfc.com at any time.

Your concern will be managed sensitively, and information will only be shared if it is necessary to ensure the safety of a child or adult at risk.

Reporting a safeguarding concern outside of matchday

If you have a concern about the safety or welfare of a child or adult at risk involved with Brentford FC, you must immediately speak with the person in charge of the activity.

If you cannot speak with someone immediately, contact a member of the safeguarding team at safeguarding@brentfordfc.com.

A member of the team will respond to your concern and advise on the next best course of action.

Your concern will be managed sensitively, and information will only be shared if it is necessary to ensure the safety of a child or adult at risk.

Out of hours (after 6pm and weekends), you can contact a helpline, such as the NSPCC, for advice on 0808 800 5000.

If you are concerned for your immediate safety or the safety of someone else, please dial 999 and report your concerns to police services.
