There’s been a lot of frenzy on social media surrounding the transfer activity at Celtic, or should I say the lack of transfer activity.
To date we’ve brought in Kieran Tierney, Benjamin Nygren, Callum Osmand, Ross Doohan, Hayato Inamura, and Shin Yamada, but we are still in need of new recruits with a few outgoings severely highlighting our lack of squad depth.
Of the players brought in we can safely say that only KT, and Benjamin Nygren are certified starters, so it’s quite clear we need to fix that especially with the departure of Nicolas Khun who contributed his fair share of goals and assists.

We will still be able to field a strong side against St Mirren next Sunday, but it goes without saying that we are a weaker side than the one that finished last season. Then you can factor in the January window frustrations where Kyogo was sold but never replaced. We did bring Jota back but he won’t play again until sometime in 2026 so he can forget about playing in the Champions League – or maybe the Europa League this season.
Celtic have been clearing out the ‘deadwood’ this summer, signed in the summer window of 2023 when the recruitment department was being led by the Chairman’s son.
We are in need of a bear minimum of three new additions, and more importantly quality first team ready players. Preferably a tricky pacy winger, a proven centre forward, and an experienced ball winning midfielder.

Another couple of additions at the back wouldn’t go amiss either, but the main aim should be to recruit three players at a minimum, anything less is unacceptable.
Brendan Rodgers’ patience is clearly wearing thin and you can’t blame him. He has a commitment to the support to stay for three seasons and he will definitely honour that but the way things look at the moment is that he will be away after that. Due to the Celtic board.
