Breaking down the July 2025 schedule for NYCFC

After playing just two games in June, New York City FC's schedule will pick up again. The Pigeons continue to lack consistency, for they beat Atlanta United FC and lost to CF Montréal. Sometimes they have no issue scoring, while other times they do. As such, the next month will probably reveal who they are as a team and where they stand.

A major reason is due to the fact that NYCFC will play five Major League Soccer matches and one Leagues Cup game. Four of the MLS fixtures will be on the road. So far, they only have one road win this season, and they continue to struggle away from home. At this point, it would take a miracle for the Boys in Blue to achieve success this month. Of course, it is not impossible, for the team has shown they can compete with some top sides.

So, with six games on the way, let's take a look at the July schedule for NYCFC.

NYCFC's July 2025 schedule

Thursday, July 3: NYCFC vs Toronto FC

NYCFC will begin the month at home at Yankee Stadium. They will welcome Toronto FC on July 3, which will hopefully be a good game since it is the night before Independence Day. But of all of the games this month, this is one that NYCFC can and should win. They beat the Reds on the road, which was the only road win so far this season. Toronto continues to struggle, too, for they only have four wins. The team is coming off a win, so that could act as a confidence booster for the Reds. That is why the home side must do everything they can to put the ball past former team captain Sean Johnson.

Saturday, July 12: NYCFC at Charlotte FC

After Toronto, the Pigeons will head on the road for the rest of July. Right now, NYCFC is in ninth place while Charlotte FC is in tenth. Therefore, it is likely the two sides will meet when they are close in the standings. The Boys in Blue have struggled against the team, where they are 1-4-1. They finally beat Charlotte last year, but the younger team has had their number since they joined MLS. This will be a demanding matchup.

Wednesday, July 16: NYCFC at Orlando City SC

The most difficult fixture of July will be against Orlando City SC. Martín Ojeda and Marco Pašalić have been superb for the Lions, for they have nine goals each. Then, Ojeda has seven assists in the MLS season. The players will make things challenging for the NYCFC backline. Therefore, Pascal Jansen should put out a more defensive lineup when they are in Florida. Thiago Martins must captain his team to be 100% focused and not make any mistakes against the current fifth-place team.

Saturday, July 19: NYCFC at Sporting Kansas City

On paper, the easiest away match of July would be the one against Sporting Kansas City. But please take that with a grain of salt. Sporting might be in 12th place in the Western Conference, but it cannot be repeated enough: NYCFC struggles on the road. However, the Boys in Blue do have the edge over them, for they are 3-2-1 against them. Yet, the two sides last faced off in MLS in 2022. So, anything can happen.

Friday, July 25: NYCFC at FC Dallas

NYCFC will play against another bottom-of-the-table Western Conference side when they take on FC Dallas. The Texas side continues to struggle when they should be better based on their roster. Plus, the Bronx side will have to face Luciano Acosta, who, of course, used to play for D.C. United and FC Cincinnati. The player has been problematic for them, so hopefully he will not continue that trend.

Tuesday, July 29: NYCFC at Club Puebla

In some ways, the first Leagues Cup game will not be a full road game since the match will take place right at Sports Illustrated Stadium, a place the Bronx side has reluctantly called home. Nevertheless, Club Puebla will be considered the home side, and likely will be allocated tickets as such. Of all the fixtures in Phase 1, this is a game NYCFC should win. Puebla struggled immensely in the Clasura of Liga MX, finishing in 17th place with just nine points. Anything less than a win will not be good if the Pigeons want to try and move on to the knockout stage, which is harder to do this year.
