Sky Sport Italia claim that Chelsea are making an offer for Milan striker Santiago Gimenez, so if Roma send Artem Dovbyk to San Siro, the Giallorossi will target Breel Embolo.

The summer transfer window in Serie A ends today at 20:00 CET (19:00 BST). Make sure you follow all the live updates and confirmed transfers on the Football Italia LIVEBLOG.

The negotiations had been for an exchange of loans between centre-forwards Gimenez and Dovbyk, but once again over the last few hours, they have slowed to a crawl.

The clubs cannot seem to decide on the terms of the move, both for introducing an option to buy, and for the personal terms.

Now Sky Sport Italia claim there is a radical change of plan, with Chelsea coming in for Gimenez, needing a striker now that they have agreed the exit of Nicolas Jackson to Bayern Munich.

The 24-year-old Mexico international only joined Milan from Feyenoord in February 2025 for €32m plus €3m add-ons and a percentage of the sell-on fee.

This sale would allow Milan to bring in Dovbyk anyway, meaning the Giallorossi need a new striker, so they in turn can target AS Monaco’s Switzerland international Embolo.

He is available fairly cheap, as his contract with the Ligue 1 side runs out at the end of this season.
