Carlo Ancelotti’s spell at Real Madrid looks well and truly over now that his desired replacement Xabi Alonso has confirmed his exit from Bayer Leverkusen at the end of the season.
Everything suggests Ancelotti will formally leave Real Madrid at the end of the ongoing La Liga campaign, where Real Madrid are still locked in a title race with Barcelona.
The Italian tactician has already agreed the terms of his exit from the Santiago Bernabeu even as he has strongly been linked with a move to the Brazilian national team.
As Alonso steps closer to becoming the new Real Madrid coach, it appears Ancelotti, too, is getting closer to taking on the Brazil job.
According to The Athletic journalist Mario Cortegana, the Brazilian football federation is set to announce next week.
Ancelotti is the undisputed candidate to become the next manager, despite earlier reports suggesting Portuguese tactician Jorge Jesus.

This will be a landmark job for Ancelotti, who has widespread experience in club football management. But this will be his first stint with a national team, though he was an assistant manager for the Italian national team during the early stage of his managerial career.
Nevertheless, Ancelotti is expected to remain focused and professional as ever, looking ahead to Real Madrid’s assignment in La Liga.
Having been beaten thrice to their arch-rivals this season, Sunday could be an opportune moment for Los Blancos to take revenge while reducing the gap at the top of the table.
Should Real Madrid secure a win this weekend, the club will have three more matches to try and overtake a one-point deficit with Barcelona.
Ancelotti, therefore, will be determined to try and cap his Real Madrid stint by producing a late surge for the league title.
