Bournemouth have turned down Olympique Lyonnais’ approach for Hamed Junior Traoré (25), according to a report from Foot Mercato.
After a difficult couple of years, Traoré managed to get his career back on track last season in what was an overwhelmingly positive loan spell at AJ Auxerre. He netted 10 goals in 26 league appearances for Christophe Pélissier’s side, as they comfortably secured their safety in Ligue 1. Although they would have liked to have taken Traoré back this season, they simply do not have the financial means to do so.
Lyon may not either. Despite the introduction of austerity measures, OL have still spent this summer, notably on Tyler Morton, who has joined from Liverpool. They have also made an approach to sign Traoré on loan from Bournemouth. That approach has been rejected. The Premier League side do not object to the forward leaving, but they would rather sell on a permanent deal and are reticent to accept another loan spell.
Should Bournemouth decrease their demands or open the door to another loan, Lyon may return to the table later in the window, Foot Mercato understands.
