Bournemouth injury blow as forward duo set for long spells out | OneFootball

Bournemouth are set to consider their options in the transfer market with Evanilson and Enes Unal facing lengthy spells on the sidelines.

Evanilson has undergone surgery on his broken foot after being substituted in the closing stages of Saturday’s 1-0 win against Everton. The Brazilian fractured a metatarsal in the clash and has undergone an operation to correct the issue.

Evanilson signed for Bournemouth from FC Porto in the summer for a club-record £40m fee. Signed as a replacement for Dominic Solanke, he has scored five times in 19 league appearances, while also winning a league-leading five penalties.

Bournemouth’s bad news continued this week after Unal tore his ACL in training. The Turkey international looked set to deputise in Evanilson’s absence but is now facing a long spell out of the team through injury. It is the second ACL injury of the 27-year-old’s career.

The absences of the duo leave Andoni Iraola’s team light in forward areas. 21-year-old Daniel Jebbison, who has featured for just 21 minutes in the Premier League this season, is the club’s only recognised option at centre-forward.

However, Justin Kluivert and Antoine Semenyo have featured in forward roles during their careers.

Bournemouth are unbeaten in eight Premier League games as Iraola’s side chase a place in Europe for the first time. The Cherries are seventh, just three points outside the Champions League places.

Next up for Bournemouth is an FA Cup third-round tie with West Bromwich Albion this weekend, before a trip to take on Chelsea in the Premier League on Tuesday night.
