Bournemouth have officially announced the signing of goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic from Chelsea.
The 25-year-old shot-stopper joins Bournemouth on a five-year contract after a £25 million transfer fee was agreed to bring him to the south coast.
Petrovic’s arrival at the Vitality Stadium follows a successful loan spell last season at Ligue 1 club Strasbourg, where he made 31 appearances and earned the club’s Player of the Season award.
He was keen to move on from Chelsea this summer, while Bournemouth’s pursuit of the Serbian was due to the departure of Chelsea loanee Kepa Arrizabalaga.
“I’m really happy to be here,” the 25-year-old said on the completion of his move. “I came to Bournemouth because I want to grow and I want to play at the best level.
“Together with this club, with these facilities, I think we can achieve it. I want to help the team get the results, improve every day and be a better player.”
Petrovic is Bournemouth’s second summer signing, following the acquisition of French left-back Adrien Truffert from Rennes for £14 million.
Having sold Dean Huijsen to Real Madrid, Bournemouth are still in the market for a new centre-back and are eyeing a move for Lille’s Bafode Diakite.
The Cherries have also been linked with Jhon Lucumi, although they are now set to face competition from Sunderland on that front.
