In an interview with Sport Bild, Borussia Dortmund’s Diant Ramaj spoke about his immediate future with the club as his loan at Copenhagen comes to an end.

After joining Dortmund from Ajax in the winter for €5m, Ramaj was immediately sent on loan to Copenhagen to continue gaining match practice. The 23-year-old had a successful spell in Denmark, winning a league and cup double during his six-month spell.

On his experience in Denmark, Ramaj said:

“I really enjoyed the season in Copenhagen, it’s fantastic what we’ve achieved. And one thing is certain for me: I have to continue to be on the pitch, get minutes, and match practice. That’s why it’s clear to me: I’m not going to sit on the bench in Dortmund!”

After his time with Copenhagen, the 23-year-old is not short of confidence:

“I said I’m the best goalkeeper of the young generation. And I think I’ve proven that in the past few months!”

In this generation, the keepers that Ramaj is competing with are Noah Atubolu of SC Freiburg, Jonas Urbig of Bayern Munich, both of whom play in the Bundesliga. Finn Dahmen, who is slightly older, has also performed well this season.

Gregor Kobel is unlikely to leave the club this summer, especially after Dortmund’s qualifying for the Champions League. This means Ramaj will likely be sent out on loan. The Stuttgart native would like to play in a top-five league this season, in a team that plays in European competition.
