Borussia Dortmund will look to keep their unbeaten run going on Wednesday when they take on FC Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League.
Matchday six of the UEFA Champions League is upon us, and Borussia Dortmund will host FC Barcelona in a mouth-watering contest. The Black and Yellows have won all but one of their matches at home so far this season (1-1 draw against Bayern Munich), and will be determined to get the better of a struggling Barcelona side on Wednesday.
Both teams go into the game with four wins in five Champions League matches. And the winner of Wednesday's contest will likely be all but assured of a spot in the round of 16 ahead of the final two league phase matches.
Borussia Dortmund did stutter in the Bundesliga once again this past weekend, playing out a 1-1 draw against Borussia Mönchengladbach. But Nuri Sahin will hope that his side turns up for the big game against the Spanish giants, who have won just one of their last five matches in La Liga.
Jamie Gittens will be looking to make the difference on the Champions League stage again, as he has done so often this season. The talented winger has scored in each of his last four appearances for Borussia Dortmund.
Barcelona will also be relying on a highly rated youngster to set the tone in attack with 17 year old Lamine Yamal in sublime form. Leading the Barca attack will be former Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski.
There are injury concerns aplenty for Borussia Dortmund ahead of their crunch Champions League clash, with Niklas Süle and Waldemar Anton both sidelined. Julian Brandt and Maximilian Beier are also likely to miss the game. But BVB look set to welcome Karim Adeyemi back into the squad.
Barcelona will be without first-choice goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen, as well as Andreas Christensen, Ronald Araujo, Marc Bernal, and Ansu Fati for their trip to Dortmund.
