A crucial week awaits Real Madrid when they return to action later this week after the international break.

Los Blancos first visit the Balaidos to take on an in-form Celta Vigo before hosting Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League, a rematch of last season’s final. Days later, they face Barcelona at Santiago Bernabeu.

Carlo Ancelotti and Co. are battling a long list of injuries heading into the crucial week, but that is quite the story of all elite clubs across Europe given the hectic schedule.

AS provides an update on the situation of Dortmund’s camp as the UCL showdown nears and the long list of absentees the Germans must deal with.

A weakened squad

As relayed by the Spanish outlet, Karim Adeyemi, Giovanni Reyna and Julien Duranville are all still suffering from muscular injuries.

Star full-back Yan Couto meanwhile is also out with a gluteal injury and all four players will not feature this weekend.

Also out of action for the German side’s upcoming Bundesliga game this weekend are Maximilian Beier who is ill, Julian Ryerson who has caught the flu and Niklas Sule who is suffering from stomach problems.

While the latter trio have a higher chance of making it back in time to face Real Madrid, nothing can be said with certainty at this point.

For Real Madrid, the selection problems are primarily in defence where David Alaba is far from a return and Dani Carvajal is out for the season. Vinicius Jr and Eder Militao, moreover, suffered setbacks ahead of the international breaks as well.

If all goes to plan however, Thibaut Courtois, Vinicius, Mbappe and Militao are all expected to be available both against Celta Vigo and Dortmund.
