This is the latest news as the Blues prepare for their first season back in League One.

Birmingham City have a busy summer ahead of them as new manager Chris Davies attempts to take them back to the Championship at the first time of asking.

The former Tottenham Hotspur assistant has a massive amount of finances to work with in his first window in charge at St Andrew's. Reports from Alan Nixon suggest that he has £20 million available to spend, a figure that some teams much higher up the pyramid won't touch this summer.

But they're not having everything their way. They may have the pounds to be able to enter into races with teams in a better league than them, but their League One status is causing them some harm.

One deal has already been done, as Ryan Allsop returns to his home city to play for the Blues, but Birmingham will need more to come in to boost their hopes of a promotion-winning campaign.

City have been reported in the past to be one of the many clubs interested in Marc Leonard. The young Scottish midfielder is going to leave Brighton & Hove Albion this summer, but the Blues are not said to be at the front of the queue.

According to Sacha Tavolieri, LAFC and FC Copenhagen are the two most interested teams in the Birmingham transfer target.

Fabrizio Romano, an expert on football transfers, had previously stated that City, Oxford United and Wrexham were leading the race to sign Leonard. But the two aforementioned foreign clubs are believed to be the ones that are pushing the most.

Sheffield Wednesday's chances of retaining their promotion hero seem to be slipping away, as Josh Windass nears a move to the midlands, although not to the part of it that some Blues fans might want.

According to Birmingham World, West Brom are interested in signing the 30-year-old, who is set to become a free agent when his contract with the Owls expires at the end of the month. City have been linked with Windass too by the Sheffield Star.

He had come close to agreeing a new deal with Wednesday, as per the Star, but talks have since stalled, and his chances of staying have been described as "increasingly unlikely."

Birmingham propose US game with Wrexham

Mike Keegan of the Daily Mail reported that the Blues had asked the EFL if they could play their home fixture against the newly-promoted side, who are also owned by North Americans, in the United States.

This proposal was swiftly rejected by the EFL, and Wrexham co-owner Ryan Reynolds said that there had been no talks on their side of things.

If they had got the green light from the Football League, the game would have been the first ever competitive English football match to take place outside of England or Wales.
