In the first of two friendly matches on Saturday, Andi Ulmer & Co took a 4-1 win over German second division side SV Hamburg. Karim Konate, Dennis Hadzikadunic (own goal), Amankwah Forson and Dorgeles Nene scored our goals.
Matthias Jaissle's boys kicked off at 10:30 amid already sweltering temperatures. After eight minutes, Amar Dedic won possession, and the ball was played down the left via Maurits Kjaergaard for Karim Konate to give us the lead. It was Dedic who led our attack for our second goal too, playing a dangerous cross from the right that Hamburg's Hadzikadunic diverted into his own goal.
In the 23rd minute, Amankwah Forson then struck our third goal with a brilliant shot from distance! After a misplaced defensive pass, HSV got a goal back via Immanuel Pherai before the break. There was still time for Konate to have two more great moments before the interval - a great scissor kick was ruled out for offside, while his rattling the crossbar from short range also didn't count for anything.
Our boys made a purposeful start to the second period too. Dorgeles Nene outsprinted the Hamburg defence from his own half, and the young man from Mali converted cooly despite the heat to make it 4-1.
As the intensive game went on, the temperature began to take its toll a bit, as both sides sought to preserve energy. It finished though as a positive friendly win for our Red Bulls.

It was a really successful friendly match today. We put a lot of things into practice against good opponents that we have trained intensively on for close to four weeks. It was a courageous performance for us, which can't be taken for granted in this weather. So from that point of view - thumbs up!

It was a successful last friendly match before the ÖFB Cup next week. We played from the very first minute just in the way we have trained recently. We can draw loads of positive conclusions, are on a good path and want to keep on going. We haven't finished our work yet though. It is only really getting started now.
