Saudi Pro League side Al-Hilal have been linked with Silva, but he is staying with City.

The Portuguese is set for an enhanced senior role at the club, with manager Pep Guardiola naming him as the team’s new captain.

Silva said (per the Guardian): “This season will for sure be with Man City. I’m going to stay.

“I’ve had options in the past and this year. But, like last year, my option is to stay at Man City.”

Silva has been a key figure in Man City’s success since joining the club in 2017.

He has bagged 71 goals and 72 assists in 404 appearances across all competitions, helping City win six Premier League titles and a Champions League trophy.

Silva is renowned for his relentless pressing and defensive work off the ball.

The former Monaco star has been a regular in the team, rarely missing games due to injury.

Despite City’s struggles last season,  Silva enjoyed a solid campaign in the Premier League, providing eight goal contributions in 33 appearances.

He posted an average of 1.0 shots, 1.6 key passes, 1.7 tackles and 3.2 ball recoveries per game in the English top-flight.

City fans are likely to be happy that he is staying at the club next season.
