The race to sign the striker is heating up

On Monday it was reported that Newcastle’s improved offer for the in-demand Slovenia international was worth at least £69million (€80million) including £8.6million (€10million) in add-ons thus taking the overall package to £78million (€90million).

Now, Man United have made an offer of their own which is slightly lower than Newcastle’s.

As per the Athletic, the Red Devils have made a bid worth just under £74m (€85m). The fee is an initial £65m plus around £8.9m (€75m + €10m) in performance related add-ons.

It is said that the offer reflects Man Utd’s valuation of Sesko and they believe the striker favours a move to Old Trafford over St James’ Park.

At the time of writing, RB Leipzig are yet to respond to either offer as the race to sign one of Europe’s hottest prospect heats up with the start of the new Premier League season just days away.

If Man Utd do end up winning the race to sign Sesko, it could have an impact on the future of Alexander Isak.

The Sweden international is being heavily linked with a move to Liverpool and while the Reds have seen one bid rejected, there has been talk of the Magpies being willing to sell but only on the condition they land a replacement.

However, with Sesko reportedly favouring Man United, it could be that Isak ends up staying for another season.
