On matchday six of the ongoing 2024/25 UEFA Champions League, Bayern Munich travelled to the Veltins Arena in Gelsenkirchen to take on Ukranian side Shakhtar Donetsk. Despite conceding a goal just five minutes into the game, Bayern went through the gears, flexed their muscles, and eventually secured an impressive 5-1 win on Tuesday.

With the win, following the completion of matchday six, Bayern climbed one spot to tenth in the table on 12 points, but remain just one point away from the eighth position, which is an automatic qualification spot for the knock-out phase of the competition. Here are some key takeaways from Bayern’s impressive victory over Shakhtar Donetsk.

Goals coming from different players

With Harry Kane, Serge Gnabry, Kingsley Coman, and Alphonso Davies missing due to injury, Bayern's attack was far from full strength. However, with a fluid four-man attack featuring Thomas Muller starting as the most advanced player ahead of Leroy Sané on the left; Jamal Musiala as the number ten, and Michael Olise on the right, Bayern had no problems finding the back of the net.

With a goal apiece from Konrad Laimer, Thomas Muller, and Jamal Musiala along with a brace from Michael Olise, including a brilliant solo effort for his second and Bayern’s fifth goal, the victory was well earned. With Harry Kane still on the mend following the hamstring injury suffered roughly two weeks ago against Dortmund, Tuesday’s goal-scoring exploits were a welcomed boon.
