Alphonso Davies was not part of the Bayern Munich starting eleven when the Bavarians took on Real Madrid in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League semifinals.

Davies was one of the key players in focus heading into last night’s encounter, especially in the wake of countless speculation linking him to a move to Santiago Bernabeu.

While Real Madrid played out a 2-2 draw with Bayern, the club are likely to pursue a deal for the Canadian international at the end of the season.

Many reports have even claimed that Real Madrid have approached Davies and the player is even closing in on an agreement with Los Blancos.

However, Bayern Munich sporting director Max Eberl has confirmed that the club have not received any offers for Alphonso Davies.

When asked about the interest from Real Madrid, Eberl reiterated that the Spanish giants have yet to approach the left-back.

“We have not received any offer for Alphonso Davies,” Eberl said (h/t Fabrizio Romano). “Real Madrid offer? Absolutely nothing.”

Eberl’s comments come against the backdrop of Real Madrid facing a precarious situation in the centre-back department, especially with Nacho Fernandez likely to leave at the end of the season.

What is Real Madrid’s play here?

Nacho’s potential exit has brought in a bit of anxiety in the Real Madrid camp, which is why the club are reportedly prioritising a move for the centre-back Leny Yoro, ahead of Alphonso Davies.

As far as Davies himself is concerned, it must be noted that Real Madrid always have the option of waiting for another year.

Davies’ current contract, after all, expires in 2025, meaning he could be available on a free transfer in 2025.

However, it remains to be seen whether or not Bayern manages to convince Davies to prolong his stay at Allianz Arena. In such a case, Real Madrid must step up their efforts to sign the young left-back, if they are to sign him in the coming summer.
