Liverpool are becoming increasingly open to negotiating the sale of Colombian winger Luis Diaz, as Bayern Munich and FC Barcelona step up efforts to sign him.

The 28-year-old winger has emerged as the top target for the La Liga and the Bundesliga champions this summer, and the Premier League title-holders are now warming up to the idea of a departure, after initially rejecting overtures.

Bayern ready to offer more than €70 million

Now, according to BILD (h/t SPORT), a meeting is already scheduled between Bayern Munich and Liverpool executives to discuss the transfer of Luis Diaz, and the German club are prepared to submit a new offer exceeding €70 million.

This amount would significantly complicate Barcelona’s chances of matching the bid, as they are currently not in a position to consider such a figure.

The situation is gaining momentum due to Diaz’s clear desire to leave Liverpool and the English club’s need to sell, following their recent transfer activity.

The Reds are close to finalising the signing of Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike for a big fee, and could even pursue Real Madrid’s Rodrygo if they manage to offload two current attackers.

Bayern Munich, thus, see an opportunity to secure Diaz and are making a serious push.

They are also negotiating personal terms with the player, offering a contract until 2029 with an optional extension to 2030, and a gross annual salary of around €14 million plus performance-related bonuses.

The Colombian would be doubling his current salary and is inclined to sign, although he is waiting for a final move from Barcelona.

The former Porto man’s preference remains to join the Catalans, but Barcelona are unable to match the proposed transfer fee. However, they can match the salary being offered and are attempting to convince the player to delay accepting Bayern’s offer.

Barcelona’s strategy had been to remain inactive through July, hoping Bayern would struggle to reach an agreement with Liverpool, allowing them to act decisively in August, when they return to the 1:1 rule.

But with Bayern making an aggressive push for Diaz, the Blaugrana could be forced to act quickly.
