Bayern Munich are confident about securing a deal for Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah this summer, according to Florian Plettenberg.

The German centre-back is one of the sought-after free agents in the market after announcing that he will not extend his contract at Leverkusen.

Barcelona have been credited as Tah’s long-term admirers, and they are pushing to sign him despite their financial troubles.

However, Bayern have submitted a lucrative offer for Tah and are only waiting for his financial decision.

The Bavarians are going all out to secure his signature, having identified him as a top replacement for Eric Dier, who will move to Monaco this summer.

Tah’s rise has been exceptional over the last couple of seasons, establishing himself as one of the best defenders in the Bundesliga.

As a pillar of Xabi Alonso’s defence, the 29-year-old was instrumental in Die Werkself winning the historic Bundesliga last season.

Bayern have also been impressed by Tah’s impressive consistency this season, as he has helped Leverkusen secure Champions League qualification for the second consecutive season.

Vincent Kompany’s side will look to build on this season’s league title win and assert their dominance across all competitions next season.

Strengthening the squad in the transfer market will be key to achieving their goals, and the defence needs an overhaul.

In addition to Dier, Kim Min-jae’s future is also hanging in the balance, with Bayern open to selling him amid interest from the Premier League.

Bayern need a top-class centre-back to partner Dayot Upamecano, and Tah looks like an attractive option.

The German giants are also planning to raid Leverkusen for the signing of Florian Wirtz, who they have identified as a No.1 target for the summer.

Despite competition from Manchester City, Bayern are leading the race for the prodigious midfielder, having reportedly reached a verbal agreement with him.

Leverkusen are demanding a fee of €150 million for their prized asset.
