Bayern Munich are focusing on signing forwards in the summer, but they are open to strengthening the defense at the same time. However, the movement in the defensive area of the squad at Bayern will heavily depend on departures.

According to Sky Sports in Germany, Bayern are open to parting ways with Kim Min-jae in the summer if a suitable offer arrives. The South Korean defender has been under scrutiny for inconsistent performances over the last few weeks.

Kim Min-jae moved to Bayern in 2023 from Napoli. The Bavarian club had beaten competition from Manchester United for the South Korean defender. He started life in Bavaria on a strong note, playing regularly during the first half of his debut season.

However, things went downhill for him in Ruckrunde as his performances dipped. Thomas Tuchel dropped him from the starting XI and used a center-back pairing of Eric Dier and Matthijs de Ligt. Kim Min-jae was linked with a move back to Italy during the end of his debut season, but Vincent Kompany wanted him to stay. Bayern eventually sold De Ligt and signed Hiroki Ito from VfB Stuttgart.

The South Korean defender has done well under Vincent Kompany, but his performances over the last few weeks have been patchy. With Dayot Upamecano in contract negotiations with Die Roten, Kim Min-jae becomes a candidate for sale at the club if they want to sign a new defender.

Juventus interested in signing Kim Min-jae

Kim Min-jae will not have limited options in the transfer market. Inter Milan were reportedly interested in him last summer. Meanwhile, Gazzetta dello Sport (via iMiaSanMia) has reported that Juventus are also interested in signing the South Korean defender.

It remains to be seen if the South Korean defender is also eager to leave Munich in the summer. He has been playing with an injury throughout the season, which has taken a toll on his performances over the last few weeks.

Along with holding talks with Upamecano, Bayern are also looking to extend the contract of Eric Dier. They will allocate the majority of the funds to the signing of Florian Wirtz and potentially one more winger in the summer. The defense will become a topic of discussion if Kim Min-jae ends up leaving at the end of the season. The next few weeks will give more clarity on Die Roten's plans for other positions in the summer.
