Bayern Munich have decided to pull out of the talks for Stuttgart forward Nick Woltemade (h/t journalist Maximilian Koch).
The German prodigy emerged as a top target for the Bavarians following a stellar 2024/25 campaign.
The 23-year-old netted 17 goals and three assists in all competitions, including the strike in the DFB-Pokal Cup final victory against Arminia Bielefeld.
His stock skyrocketed after he finished as the top scorer at the European Under-21 Championship, where Germany reached the final before losing to England.
Despite competition from European giants, Bayern moved swiftly to reach verbal agreement with Woltemade on a five-year deal until 2030.
The deal would also see him earn a lucrative salary up to €10 million per season with the Bavarians.
But talks with Stuttgart have proven to be stagnant. They have turned down back-to-back offers, including a €55m package.
Stuttgart have set a threshold of €65m, while Bayern are unwilling to yield. There is no clear update on when Bayern will return to the negotiating table.
Meanwhile, the Bundesliga champions will continue to work on the deal for Liverpool winger Luis Diaz, who has been identified as a priority target to bolster the attack.
Despite the Reds knocking back a couple of offers, Bayern haven’t given up their pursuit and are planning a fresh proposal for the Colombian international.
With Diaz giving the green light to the transfer, Bayern remain optimistic about landing him ahead of the new season.
Lyon winger Malick Fofana has been identified as a fallback option if Diaz’s deal fails to materialise.
