Bayern Munich have added Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo to their summer shortlist as the club look to sign a left-winger.
The Bundesliga champions have made the signing of a left-winger their focus for the upcoming transfer window. Bayern are set to miss out on the signing of Florian Wirtz, who is expected to join Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen.
Vincent Kompany’s side are now considering a move to sign Gakpo from Liverpool, who could be a casualty of Wirtz’s arrival at Anfield.
Despite an impressive campaign with the Premier League champions, Sky Germany claim that Liverpool would consider suitable offers for Gakpo.
The Netherlands international scored 18 goals in all competitions in 2024/25 and is admired by the Bayern Munich hierarchy.
Gakpo joined Liverpool from PSV Eindhoven in January 2023 for an initial fee of £35m. He has scored 41 goals in 128 games for the Reds, helping the club Premier League and League Cup success.
Last summer, Gakpo was the joint-leading scorer at Euro 2024 as the Netherlands reached the competition’s semi-finals. He has netted 15 goals in 38 caps for the Oranje at international level.
Gakpo is one of several names on the club’s shortlist, alongside Brighton’s Kaoru Mitoma and AC Milan winger Rafael Leao. However, interest in Crystal Palace playmaker Eberechi Eze is understood to be wide of the mark.
After signing Michael Olise from Palace last summer, the German giants have been linked with another raid on Selhurst Park. Eze – who scored the winner as the Eagles won the FA Cup this season – has a release clause of £60m in his deal in South London.
