Rangers midfielder Nicolas Raskin produced a superb performance against Olympiakos away from Ibrox in the Europa League in midweek.
The Gers came from behind to secure a 1-1 draw against the Greek side in a hostile atmosphere, and Raskin was one of the standout performers.
The Daily Record described him as “superb” and gave him an 8/10 rating for his performance.
Rangers legend Barry Ferguson was also heavily impressed by Raskin’s performance, and he has hailed the midfielder as “excellent”.
He says that Raskin has forged a strong partnership with Connor Barron in the middle of the park, and they were aggressive in getting the ball back when not in possession.
“I thought Connor Barron and Nicolas Raskin were excellent in the middle of the park,” wrote Ferguson in his column for the Daily Record.
“When your opponent has the ball you need to be aggressive towards them. Both of them now, in my opinion, over the last couple of weeks are starting to strike up a decent relationship in the middle of the pitch.”
The Bears are already nine points behind Celtic in the race after ten games, and they need to be more consistent in the league.
Philippe Clement’s side are heading into this Premiership weekend on the back of a 2-1 defeat against Aberdeen in their last league game.
The Gers also lost 1-0 against Kilmarnock. They dropped points against Hearts and Celtic as well.
Ferguson has rightly pointed out that the entire performance against the Greek side was full of character and aggressiveness, and that’s what Rangers need going forward.
The Gers need to play with intensity, and that’s why the game at Ibrox on Sunday against Hearts is crucial.
Prior to the international break, Rangers must look to end it on a positive note by securing a victory.
Raskin has only managed to show glimpses of his talent in bits and parts, and Rangers fans would love to see the Belgian midfielder producing strong performances for the club on a regular basis.
