Benjamin Nygren, who will be shortly turning 24 has just recently broken into the Swedish national side boasting an impressive record of two goals in four appearances after his superb form for Danish Superliga side Nordsjaelland earned him a call-up to the national side.
The Swedish international who can operate anywhere across the front line is a creative player who also offers a goal threat as his 15 goals in 30 appearances for Nordsjaelland last campaign testifies.
We’ve bagged a lot of bargains in recent years such as Reo Hatate, Daizen Maeda, Matt O’Riley and Nicolas Kuhn, players who have went on to becomes firm favourites in the eyes of the supporters and mainstays of the first team, and in Benjamin I believe that we have another.
Our footballing philosophy depends on players who pose a bit of flair and spark in the attacking area of the field, and in Benjamin we have that sort of player. He could be the kind of player that Tom Rogic was for Celtic and is likely to play the same number 10 role for Brendan Rodgers on the coming season.
Benjamin has all the attributes to be a real Celtic favourite. Welcome aboard Benji Bhoy. It’s going to be crazy but you’ll love every minute of it.
Here’s Benjamin Nygren’s Welcome to Celtic interview with Celtic TV, which was filled at Celtic Park on Friday afternoon and some of the quotes from Celtic’s new number 8.
“I feel amazing to have signed for Celtic, it’s so nice to be here,” Celtic’s new Bhoy said. “I’ve been looking forward to this so much.
”
“I’m a player who wants to create a lot of chances and go towards goal,” he said. “I’m a link between the defence and the offence and I can run a lot. I’m an offensive-minded player but I also work hard and try to do my best in all parts of the game.
“I’m a very competitive person and this is something that I love about Celtic. It’s a huge club and I love that. And, also, the winning mentality. I want to be with similar-minded people who also love to win.
“I had my breakthrough when I was very young, so even though I’m 23 years old, I have played over 200 games. I have a lot of experience and that’s what I want to bring.”
