This summer, there could be a scramble for Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich. With just a year left on his contract, the veteran midfielder is catching the eye of clubs like FC Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, and even Real Madrid.

Recently, news surfaced that the Bayern Munich board intends to convene with Kimmich sometime this month. With his contract set to expire in 2025 and the 29-year-old showing no signs of advancing negotiations for a new deal, the club may find itself in a position where selling him becomes a viable option.

With the German international’s future in limbo, transfer window specialist Fabrizio Romano provided the latest regarding Kimmich.

“With Hansi Flick appointed Barcelona manager we’re seeing Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich linked with Barca,” Romano wrote in his column for CaughtOffside. “However, Deco and Flick haven’t discussed targets yet.

“It will be in the next weeks. Kimmich for sure is appreciated by Flick, he knows him well, but before discussing targets Barca need to fully understand about their Financial Fair Play situation for this summer.”

Kimmich made 43 appearances this 2023-24 season for Bayern Munich, scoring two goals and registering 10 assists for the Bundesliga side. It will be an interesting saga to follow to see if the veteran decides to leave and try a new chapter in the last years of his prime.
