La Liga giants Barcelona have not closed the door on the potential summer sale of a leading member of the club’s defensive ranks.
That’s according to Diario Sport, who point towards Ronald Araújo as the player in question.
Defender Araújo for his part only put pen to paper on a new long-term contract at Barcelona earlier this year.
The final months of the campaign, however, saw the Uruguayan come in for heavy criticism on the part of the Blaugrana faithful.
So much so that many went as far as to call for Araújo to be shipped off at the first opportunity this summer.
And as alluded to above, if the latest word stemming from the media is anything to go by, then as much cannot be ruled out.
As per a report from Sport, Barcelona still require one high-profile sale this summer, to fund incomings.
Amid a logjam at the heart of Hansi Flick’s defence, Araújo – whose release clause will drop to €65 million early in July – is therefore not assured of his Camp Nou future:
‘Nobody wants to force anything, but his name will begin to sound strong during the first ten days of July because it is still a market opportunity for many clubs. And Barça are willing to listen.’
