Barcelona have increasingly been linked to Espanyol star Joan Garcia in recent days as their new long-term goalkeeping fix. The signing, however, is easier said than done given his history as an Espanyol player.
Despite the noise, however, it took Garcia hardly any time to reach the club’s facilities and begin training, albeit with the Catalan national team to take on Costa Rica in an international friendly game.
The reports around his future are positive as it stands and it remains to be seen how it progresses, especially given that moving across Catalonia from Espanyol to Barcelona is not a move many players have made successfully.
Speaking to the media ahead of the game at the Barcelona facility today, Espanyol star and Garcia’s teammate Pol Lozano was asked to comment on the goalkeeper’s future.
The player cryptically hinted towards knowing Garcia’s next destination and directly linked it with the player’s ‘happiness’, although it remains unclear in what sense.
“I know where he will be happy and he knows it too. He will decide.”

He then went on to add that there was still time for the move although the player had already made up his mind.
“It’s May. He’s not sure, but he surely knows where he will be happy.”
Finally, Lozano was asked to speak on Garcia’s incredible shot-stopping prowess that has come to light this season. The Espanyol star was not surprised in the least.
“Many people have been surprised, but I was aware and he is showing it now,” he concluded.
The coming days will be critical in deciding the goalkeeper’s future, especially with word running that the player wishes to finalise before the weekend. A lot of the pressure rests on the shoulders of Deco.
