A member of the defensive ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona is suffering with a fresh injury problem.
That’s according to Sergi Capdevila, who points towards Mikayil Faye as the player in question.
Stopper Faye, for his part, has spent the summer to date working to convince new Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick of his readiness to contribute for the season ahead.
The Senegalese is held in altogether high regard amongst those in a position of power at the Camp Nou, culminating in widespread calls for Faye to be afforded a chance to impress in pre-season.
It will in turn come as a blow to Faye’s many supporters to hear of the 20-year-old struggling for fitness.
As per a report from Diario Sport’s Sergi Capdevila:
‘Two casualties in Barça’s first and last friendly against Olot: Mika Faye, due to ankle discomfort, and Unai Hernández, with a fever. We will see when the Senegalese is ready to play again.’
Faye is therefore set to miss out in the early hours of Wednesday, when Barcelona lock horns with Premier League champions Manchester City in a high-profile friendly clash.
