A leading member of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona has on Friday been afforded a recall at international level.
The player in question? Frenkie de Jong.
Midfielder De Jong has for his part of course spent recent weeks building his way back towards full fitness.
After a lengthy spell on the sidelines with an ankle injury, the former Ajax man has gradually worked his way back into the plans of new Barcelona boss Hansi Flick.
All told, De Jong has featured in six of the Blaugrana’s last seven fixtures, the most recent of which came from the off against Red Star Belgrade in midweek.
And, evidently, as much has not gone unnoticed back in his home country.
This comes amid confirmation that the 27-year-old has been afforded a place in Ronald Koeman’s latest Dutch national team squad.
De Jong has for his part not taken to the pitch in the colours of the Oranje since all the way back in September of last year.
The Barcelona man, though, has the chance to mark his return to the international stage over the coming weeks, as the Netherlands prepare for a pair of Nations League fixtures against Hungary and Bosnia & Herzegovina.
