In October, SPORT reported that Manchester United, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, and Paris Saint-Germain are all monitoring Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong.

While de Jong is committed to staying at Barcelona, PSG’s history of signing players from the Catalan club makes them a possible destination next summer. PSG has bolstered their midfield in recent years with signings like Vitinha, Fabián Ruiz, and João Neves, which has only added fuel to the speculation surrounding de Jong’s future.

Journalist Ferran Correas has also suggested that Barcelona might be open to selling de Jong next summer. However, Diario AS recently highlighted that the midfielder is happy at Barcelona and has no plans to leave, despite the club being willing to entertain a substantial offer for him.

According to a recent report from Sport, Barcelona has reached out to de Jong as part of their efforts to begin contract renewal talks. The club aims to avoid having key players enter the final 12 months of their contracts and is optimistic about securing extensions before next summer, following promising early discussions.

SPORT reports that Barcelona have given ultimatums to de Jong and Ronald Araujo, as both of their contracts are set to expire in 2026. If they don’t sign renewals, the club will look to sell them.

Fichajes recently reported that Borussia Dortmund could emerge as an unexpected contender for the Dutch international. The club is looking to strengthen their squad in a bid to improve their chances in both the Bundesliga and the Champions League.

The same source also mentioned that Liverpool could be interested in de Jong as a potential midfield addition. With Barcelona facing financial challenges and de Jong’s reportedly high wages of around £300,000 per week, the club might be open to selling him if the right offer comes in.

De Jong’s contract with Barcelona runs until 2026, but he has yet to sign an extension. While no asking price has been set, Transfermarkt values him at €60 million.
