Barcelona set to gain €12.5 million from former player’s transfer to AC Milan | OneFootball

Barcelona could find themselves with an unexpected boost to their finances this January thanks to the potential sale of Francisco Trincao.

The Portuguese winger is working on his move to AC Milan, with the operation progressing smoothly. According to SPORT, the deal could be finalised for around €25 million, with performance-related bonuses potentially increasing the final amount.

Since Barcelona own 50% of the player’s rights, they are set to receive half of that sum, amounting to €12.5 million.

Milan closing in

Milan appear ready to meet the asking price, and Trincao is seen as the ideal player to strengthen their attack on the wings.

His move comes after Sergio Conceicao’s appointment as Milan’s coach in December, which played a crucial role in the club’s decision to target Trincao.

Milan were in the market for a winger capable of making a significant impact, and Trincao quickly became the standout choice.

Although Milan had initially considered other options, including Dani Olmo, who is on Barcelona’s books, and even Marcus Rashford on loan, the financial constraints surrounding Rashford’s high salary made that deal unfeasible.

Barcelona stand to gain

Trincao has had a standout season with Sporting Lisbon, where he has netted seven goals and provided 11 assists.

Barcelona have been closely monitoring Trincao’s progress, knowing that several top European clubs, including Manchester City and Bayern Munich, have shown interest in him.

The club was always hopeful that they could make a profitable sale if the right offer came along.

If the move to Milan goes through, Barcelona stand to make a total of €23 million from Trincao’s transfer. This includes the €12.5 million from the sale to Milan, €7.5 million from his original transfer fee, and €3 million from his loan period.

The sale would not only benefit Barcelona financially but also clear up space in the squad, allowing the club to focus on other priorities.
