FC Barcelona have been working on various operations this summer to finalise exits. While the club has not exactly found success with each such operation, progress is gradually being made. However, certain measures are being taken by Barcelona that do not sit kindly with everyone.
One of the major stories in recent weeks has been that of Marc-Andre Ter Stegen. The German goalkeeper reportedly does not want to leave the club but Barcelona would ideally prefer if he did just that. Instead, he is soon expected to undergo surgery and that could partially help the club out.
However, there are other exits to sort out as well, but not all of them are proving to be as simple as the club would ideally have liked them to be. In fact, one such player has not even been included in Hansi Flick’s squad that is travelling to Japan.

That player is none other than Oriol Romeu, and according to SPORT, Flick’s decision to not include him has not gone down well with him. Reportedly, the player has never caused any issues for the club or the coaching staff and believed that taking him along for the preseason tour could have allowed him to stay integrated within the squad while sorting out his future simultaneously.
In fact, the 33-year-old midfielder is the only fully-available first team player that has been left behind by the Barcelona coaching staff. Pau Victor’s exclusion makes sense as he is set to join another club soon, and Ter Stegen’s absence is due to him undergoing surgery.
Romeu, on the other hand, remains without a guaranteed exit and is also physically fit and was available for selection. Unfortunately, it seems as if Flick does not count on him and the player has already been made aware of this reality.
For now, he will have to train alone at Barcelona using the club’s facilities and taking help from the coaches that are available for him. In a way, the report claims that this is a form of pressure from the club but the player and his camp do not fully understand the need for it as they are negotiating the player’s exit.
In terms of suitors, the names of Girona and Valencia have emerged in recent weeks. However, they will likely only consider the possibility of a transfer more seriously if the player was to terminate his current contract with Barcelona.
