Spanish football’s two leading clubs have this week been tipped as potential landing spots for Napoli star Victor Osimhen, by Nigeria national team boss Eric Chelle.
Frontman Osimhen, for his part, is set to be on the move once more over the months ahead.
After a prolific loan stint in Turkey with Galatasaray, the 26-year-old will now return to base in Italy with parent club Napoli.
The newly-crowned Serie A champions, however, have no intention of keeping hold of Osimhen, who has no place in the plans of manager Antonio Conte.
A battle for the signature of the former Lille man therefore appears to be on the cards, between a number of European football’s top clubs.
And as alluded to above, early this week, two such sides to have been tipped as possible landing spots for Osimhen have been named, in Barcelona and Real Madrid.
Speaking to the media during a press conference on Tuesday, Nigeria head coach Eric Chelle was drawn on the ongoing speculation surrounding his star striker’s name.
And the tactician, in his response, named four clubs whom he feels are in the running to secure Osimhen’s services:
“Victor, for me, is the best centre-forward in the world. The reality is that with the market window open, a player like him cannot be 100% focused. I have to protect him physically and mentally because he will be transferred.
“Maybe to a club like Manchester United. Or maybe Barcelona, Chelsea or Real Madrid…”
