Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Fabián Ruiz received a warning if he wants to remain with the capital club. The UEFA Euro 2024 winner’s name is in the transfer rumor mill, linking him to a return to Spain, and one pundit advises him that he’s not a guaranteed starter for manager Luis Enrique.
Ruiz is making a significant impact on Spain’s national team, and the Spanish media are now linking the midfielder with a potential move to Barcelona or Real Madrid.
SPORT recently reported new details about Barcelona and Real Madrid’s interest in Fabian Ruiz. Despite being a key player for Spain, the 28-year-old has yet to cement a starting spot in PSG’s midfield.
The Spanish outlet reports that Real Madrid and Barcelona could make a move for Ruiz in January. Carlo Ancelotti is reportedly interested in reuniting with his former Napoli player.
Barcelona, on the other hand, are looking to bolster their midfield after Ilkay Gundogan’s departure. Along with Ruiz, Hansi Flick is said to be eyeing Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka.
Le Parisien journalist Dominique Séverac stated that Ruiz needs to be aware that there’s plenty of competition in the PSG midfield. As a result, perhaps the player keeps his options open if he’s unable to hold down a starting position.
“With Spain, he’s heavily involved in the buildup, pushes forward, and finds the back of the net,” Séverac notes (h/t Le10Sport). “But at Paris, there’s no real spark, just the occasional bright moment, like that stunning goal against Brest.
“It’s not enough. He needs to be careful because the competition in midfield is tough this season with Neves, Doué, and Lee all capable of taking his spot in a three-man midfield.”
