Spanish football’s two biggest clubs could yet lock horns over the signature of a 2nd member of the first-team setup at Bayern Munich.

That’s according to German football insider Florian Plettenberg, who points towards Joshua Kimmich as the player in question.

Midfielder Kimmich, for his part, is due to see his contract terms in Munich expire in the summer of 2025.

The brass at the Allianz Arena are continuing to work towards finding an agreement on a renewal, but the 29-year-old is for his part taking into consideration a new challenge.

And waiting in the wings in the case of Kimmich ultimately deciding on as much are both Barcelona, and Real Madrid.

As per Sky Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg:

‘A move to La Liga or the Premier League is being considered, with Barcelona and Real Madrid closely monitoring his situation.’

The brass at both the Camp Nou and Santiago Bernabéu are on the lookout for reinforcements in the middle of the park, with signing a player of Kimmich’s calibre as a free agent considered an opportunity too good to turn down.

This means that a Clásico head-to-head could be on the cards for two Bayern stars next summer, with Alphonso Davies also in the sights of Barca and Real.
